Looking Forward to 2008

We are most grateful at this time of year to have an opportunity to reflect on our past successes and look forward to the New Year with energy and excitement toward the new adventures certain to come our way!

As we reflect on 2007 some of our fondest memories and highlights included:

Television

Lisa was featured on two episodes of "Married Away" on The Style Network, one in Cancun, Mexico and another in Punta Arenas, Costa Rica. Check out The Style Network website to see when re-runs will air or stay tuned to DestinationBride.com for links to watch full episodes.

Weddings

It seemed that this was the year of "11th hour weddings," with three of our clients asking us to organize large-scale weddings from A-Z in as short a time frame as 4 weeks! Even though we were pressed for time we managed to pull together memorable and amazing celebrations close to home and abroad in the following locations:

  • Costa Rica
  • Mexico
  • Anguilla
  • Berkshires
  • Catskills
  • Hudson Valley
  • Argentina
  • Puerto Rico for Surprise 40th Birthday Party
  • New York City

Some of the more unique elements from these weddings included transforming a traditional riding ring into a sophisticated, elegant wedding ballroom. We also had the pleasure of producing a "wedding ceremony play," where our bride and groom watched as actors recreated their love story right in front of them and their guests.

PR, etc...

Lisa co-produced a photo shoot for Rose Hall, a Luxury Resort owned by Blackstone, promoting luxury weddings there.

Radio & Podcasting

Last year brought us the very "lucky" wedding date 7/7/07. In June, Lisa was asked to be the spokesperson for the "Lucky in Love" Satellite Media Tour for Princess Cruises, Rock Resorts and Marriott. The tour promoted the significance and importance of this memorable date for couples and the excitement surrounding it.

Lisa traveled to Turks & Caicos in October and uncovered a truly beautiful and unique destination for brides and grooms planning a destination wedding. She fell in love with the landscape, the beach and many luxury resorts for clients to visit.

New Staff Addition

This fall we welcomed Katie O'Malley to staff. In her role as Executive Director, Katie will assist Lisa with wedding coordinating, website sales, daily business operations, and help to brand and market the business on a local and national level. Katie has over 10 years of experience in the sales, marketing and event planning industry and brings energy and passion to her job.

2008 Goals

We are looking forward to an amazing year with many exciting projects and new travel adventures.

Upcoming Weddings

We have our passports ready to go as we may be traveling to:

  • Brazil
  • Portugal
  • Mexico
  • Egypt
  • Argentina
  • Quebec
  • Berkshires
  • Catskills
  • ...and even more to come!

Multi-Media Campaign

One of the biggest projects we will focus on in 2008 is the Destination Bride Multi-Media Campaign, featuring the television program "Destination Bride with Lisa Light...the wedding anthropologist." Viewers will have a chance to share in the life and adventures of a real life, international wedding planner as they join Lisa on expeditions all around the world!

Our mission for this truly unique project is to entertain, to educate and to promote our brands and those of our partners and sponsors by designing 13 fabulous weddings in 13 unique destinations spanning the globe and then showcasing them in a variety of media including television, radio, Internet podcast show and print. We plan to travel to the Ice Hotel in Quebec in March to shoot the pilot. Stay tuned for updates on the progress of this exciting project.

We will also be coordinating a very special proposal for a couple that will air on "Inside Edition." Stay tuned for more details.

Books

Lisa will be writing another book to complement the television series and wedding designs at each destination, titled "Destination Bride Design." Stay tuned for more updates on her newest book!

Website

DestnationBride.com is getting ready for a complete overhaul of the design, content and resources, bringing it to a whole new level. Some additions include: resources on everything a couple may need to plan their destination wedding online, access to exclusive locations, perfect products for sale and a personalized webpage for couples!

Other news...

Lisa Light has been invited to be a part of Princess Cruises "Department of Romance" along with members Captain Steubing (Gavin MacLeod) and Dr. Ruth Westheimer. We will keep you posted on this in the next few weeks.

We want to wish all of you a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2008. We look forward to spending precious moments with you and to working together with you to "make client's wildest dreams come true at home or abroad!"
