"21st Century Couple" - Destination Wedding in Hawaii

Jesse Kovarovics and Jackie Losik are a typical 21st century couple. In fact, they are the winners of an online contest - sponsored by DestinationBride.com and other leading online companies such as BlueNile.com, and thebigday.com, and Starwood.com to find a deserving "21st century couple" and present them with a free destination wedding in Hawaii! Read more about Jesse and Jackie's winning story.

Times have changed, but romance is alive and well! Even though Jesse and Jackie lived within blocks of each other in Florida, "love at first sight" only happened after they both connected on Match.com. It was their mutual love of gaming (Jesse designs and programs games) that drew them together. Since that time three years ago they have been busy: moving to California, welcoming their son Aiden into their lives, and dreaming about the wedding they never got around to having. Jesse and Jackie submitted their love story to theweddingcontest.com, rallied their loved ones to vote for them online, and the rest is recent history!

Scene change to the present: On Tuesday, August 10th, Jesse and Jackie sat in the Mai Tai Bar of the famous Royal Hawaiian Hotel (one of Honolulu's oldest, affectionately known as "The Pink Palace") celebrating their good fortune and excitement as friends and family gathered for their island wedding. In Waikiki Beach there is truly a party every night, and Jessie and Jackie went their separate ways to experience the beach nightlife, bachelor and bachelorette-style. Jackie's mother had rented a villa for her stay, and Wednesday night's rehearsal dinner was a casual barbeque there, poolside.

Lisa Light Ltd. worked with Jackie on the design of the wedding, with an elegant color scheme of sky blue, chocolate brown and cream. Did we mention that Jackie loves cake? The cake was a spectacular retro beauty - blue, with chocolate swirls - and it was the inspiration for much of the design. The ceremony took place in the hotel's Coconut Grove, a gorgeous courtyard flanked by two huge impressive trees. Their wedding arch was made of bamboo, with sheer blue drapes and brown ribbons. The flowers - blue delphinium, white orchids, little calla lilies - reflected the elegance of the overall design.

For all of the beauty - the design, the setting, the plans that come together so beautifully - nobody could have doubted the event's most winning, unplanned element: little Aiden following his mother, joyfully holding the train of her gown, as though this was just one of many weddings he'd experienced in his 18 months!

The reception was a traditional Hawaiian luau at the Royal Hawaiian, complete with fire dancers, and hula dancers (ask Jesse and Jackie how to do it...they got a little lesson!). The wedding party's long table was radiant with blue glass bottles and bamboo vases, a stunning runner that echoed the couple's colors.

Jesse and Jackie had sent out invitations in the form of a "message in a bottle." As a newly married couple, their message in a bottle would probably read: "Life is full of wonderful, lucky surprises...true love is the best one of all!"
