One of the reasons I love planning weddings in Jamaica is that the island has so much more to offer than sandy beaches. The history, the culture and the landscape are diverse and colorful and offer wonderful options for designing a destination wedding. Rose Hall Resort & Country Club has been a leader in providing unique destination weddings for many years; when the 35-million-dollar renovation now underway is completed in September 2007, it promises to be THE luxury wedding venue of choice in Jamaica. ActivitiesAlthough there is so much to do at Rose Hall Resort & Country Club that guests need not venture out, it would be a shame if they did not experience the wonders the island has to offer. These include a ride down the Martha Brae River, a trip to Dunn's Falls, a visit to a local village, an eco-adventure tour of the rainforest canopy, or a night of celebrating, dancing and yes...swimming at the famous Margaretville Nightclub in Montego Bay. The Club has a giant water trampoline in plain view of the bar and dance floor, in case you are feeling a little wild and crazy and want to swim under the stars! There is something for everyone on the Rose Hall property as well. The young at heart will enjoy the largest water park in the Caribbean, right in the center of the resort and complete with a giant waterslide, three terraced pools, two swim-up bars, a lazy river, and a rope and wood suspension bridge. Golfers will lose themselves on one of the most beautiful seaside golf courses in the world. Cinnamon Hill Ocean Course is an 18-hole championship level golf course designed by Robert Von Hagge and recognized as a Top Course by Golf Magazine and Caribbean Travel & Life. There is no shortage of water sports either; guests can choose from among snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, windsurfing, kayaking, swimming, jet skiing, fishing, and boat tours. Rose Hall Resort & Country Club can accommodate 900 guests on property and even more in neighboring private villas. The size of the property allows guests to spread out and enjoy their privacy and wedding parties can block their own portion of the resort so that they are together. All of the accommodations offer tradition blended with modern comfort; they range in price from $150 to $1500 a night depending on the time of year, the type of room and whether you choose to pay for the room only or an all-inclusive package. Guests can choose among rooms with mountain or ocean views, suites and private villas. The Prime Minister Suite is a the perfect option for a wedding party as it consists of a master bedroom with private balcony, an oversized parlor with sitting and dining areas, four bathrooms and powder rooms, and a kitchen and bar, all of which can interconnect with three additional bedrooms.
Rose Hall Resort & Country Club is one of my favorite Jamaican properties because it has such a unique variety of wedding venues to choose from including a private beach, an 18th century aqueduct ruin, and the historic Rose Hall Plantation House. Couples can also choose to be married in a garden, by a waterfall, in a gazebo, Johnny Cash estate, the majestic Cinnamon Hill Gardens or just choose a spot from 400 acres, or in one of many local churches. A great option as well is to Cruise on the 120 Ft Yacht that is available for private cruises and events.
The staff at Rose Hall Resort & Country Club exude the "happy to see you and serve you" attitude that Jamaica is famous for. The catering staff is exceptional at working with couples to custom design itineraries and menus for any kind of group including, Indian and Kosher. This is one of the few large properties that remains flexible and does not present the client with a list of things they can NOT do. Rather, they are willing to accommodate any request.
