Puerto Rico | Caribbean

Puerto Rico - The Island of EnchantmentPuerto Rico is fondly referred to "The Island of Enchantment" and rightfully so as it is not only home to magnificent beaches, but to tropical rainforests, magnificent mountains, and romantic botanical gardens. Blending Latin, European and American culture, with beautiful architecture, exquisite plazas and churches, "The Island" is steeped in Spanish traditions, rich in its festive embrace of life. With outdoor fun, great hotels and restaurants, fascinating history, first rate transportation and a welcoming population, Puerto Rico has it all, and them some! Puerto Rico is blessed with a balmy, beautiful climate year round.

San Juan is famous for its historic tours, shopping, elegant old hotels and casinos and first rate night life. Rincon, a surfing Mecca, has been rated one of the Top Ten Beaches in the Caribbean by The Travel Channel, and is becoming a hot spot for destination weddings due to the fact that it is a direct flight from NYC and it offers both five-star hotels and elegant, private villas for events. The off shore islands of Culebra and Vieques are also a draw with their bioluminescent bays and fine wedding offerings.

Couples from the U.S. will find Puerto Rico to be an exotic yet easy destination for a destination wedding as it is easy to get to, most people speak English, the currency is the U.S. dollar and no pass ports are required.

The island itself is teeming with beauty and vitality, and her perpetual summer encourages creative engagement. Natural attractions include tropical rainforests, botanical gardens, and sun-drenched beaches. In the 28,000 acre Caribbean National Forest (El Yunque) you will discover 100 f. high trees and dramatic mountain ranges.

Destination | Rincon - at the Horned Dorset

I was asked to plan a 40th birthday party in Rincon, Puerto Rico. Although it was not my usual type of gig, I gladly accepted as I had always been intrigued with Rincon.

The assumption I previously had about Rincon was that it was an exclusive hide-away on the west coast. I was well aware of the world famous Horned Dorset Hotel and was looking forward to not only seeing it, but staying there, so that was my first call.

I took a direct flight out of JFK, which was quite convenient I might add. The Horned Dorset had a car waiting for me making my transfer seamless and easy. When I arrived I found myself in the middle of a BIG wedding celebration for the sister of the-one-and-only Ugly Betty! Everyone was having a marvelous time dancing under the stars in the courtyard outside the seaside restaurant.

Networking at the Rincon Ocean Villa

Rincon Ocean VillaWe set out to introduce our group to not only the villa, but to the Rincon area and the local service providers. We wanted them to not only fall in love with the villa, which is a stunner, but also the destination and we knew it was necessary for the group to feel confident that they would find quality services for their clients as well.

Rincon is first and foremost a surfing town as the waves are renowned in the winter. It is also a town that has yet to be over run and overdeveloped by tourism, as a matter of fact, I do not think the government has put much thought at all into "city" planning. It is a funny little place, because although it is a very laid back surfing town, it is also a celebrity magnet with its very own film festival! The nicest surprise you will find is that although the restaurants are ultra casual, the food is fresh, fine and over the top delicious. I am no stranger to gourmet food, but the food in Rincon seriously made an impression on me to the point where I will always remember how good the food really was.
