Destination Weddings in the Hudson Valley

The Hudson Valley Region is a playground for those who live in New York City. The river is flanked by grand mansions, bountiful fields, orchards, and vineyards, quaint villages, state parks, interesting museums, marinas, the dramatic Palisades, the Catskill mountains, lighthouses, islands and even a castle ruin. Riverboat weddings are unique to the area and weddings celebrating the harvest moon are particular favorites in this region.

The Hudson Valley Region is very easy to explore because it is easily accessible by car and by Amtrak, which runs from Manhattan going North all the way to Canada. The train stops in major towns and villages along the river. Guests can also fly into Albany International Airport or Stewart Airport in Newburgh. This region offers city dwellers the opportunity to have a destination wedding within 2 hours of the city, allowing guests to make the wedding a day trip if necessary.

Climate:
All four seasons are well represented in upstate the Hudson Valley. You can plan a wedding around the best that any season has to offer - from gloriously hot summer weather to the-definition-of-crisp Fall temperatures, from outback skiing to cottage-garden Spring days. Words of caution: the hottest summer days can sometimes include a thunderstorm anywhere upstate, and if you're planning a winter wedding, the farther north and west you go, the more dramatic the "lake effect" snowstorms can be.
