Destination Weddings in the Hudson Valley The Hudson Valley Region is a playground for those who live in New York City. The river is flanked by grand mansions, bountiful fields, orchards, and vineyards, quaint villages, state parks, interesting museums, marinas, the dramatic Palisades, the Catskill mountains, lighthouses, islands and even a castle ruin. The Hudson Valley Region is very easy to explore because it is easily accessible by car and by Amtrak, which runs from Manhattan going North all the way to Canada. Words of caution: the hottest summer days can sometimes include a thunderstorm anywhere upstate, and if you're planning a winter wedding, the farther north and west you go, the more dramatic the "lake effect" snowstorms can be.
