You can't get more laid-back than a destination wedding in Belize... this country has had a peaceful history, and facing as it does the Caribbean Sea, it seems to have more in common with the islands than Latin America. Easily accessible from the U.S., Belize, a subtropical getaway for smart & sophisticated travelers, has also become a very tempting choice for an exotic wedding destination.

With its glorious rainforests and mountains teeming with incredible wildlife, its endless miles of magnificent beaches protected by coral reefs and 200 caves on the Caribbean coastline, wedding planners will find all they desire in Belize. Enjoy waterfalls, caves, granite riverbeds, plus rainforest medicine trails and ancient Mayan cities - with splendid ruins that make beautiful backdrops for a wedding photo album that will be an absolute treasure for years to come.

Belize has a wide variety of religious denominations including: Roman Catholic, Anglican, Episcopalian, Methodist, Faith Assembly of God, Jehovah's Witness, Baptist, Mormon, Mennonite, and Hindu. Check with your hotel for times and places of services.

If you plan to get married at an Archaeological Reserve, (Maya Ruins, sites), please fax a letter requesting permission one week before the ceremony. Letters should be faxed to the Commissioner of Archaeology, at (501) 822-3345. Please include the date and time of ceremony; names of bride and groom; priest or Justice of the Peace; and site of ceremony.

Climate:
Belize's rainy season is May through November; you'll find cooler and drier weather from February through April. This is subtropical, rainforest weather, with temperatures usually in the 80's F; but in Belize, the possibilities of swimming and snorkeling are always nearby. The best months to plan a wedding may be very early spring - February through April - when Belize is a little cooler and less humid than its usual subtropical weather.
